Moreau | VanTuinen Duo

The Moreau | VanTuinen Duo is one of the only all-women percussion+low brass duos in the world. Formed in 2014, the group is comprised of Dr. Danielle Moreau (percussion) and Dr. Danielle VanTuinen (euphonium+tuba), who presently reside in Gainesville, Florida. In addition to their active solo careers, the duo regularly presents at universities across North America discussing career development for 21st-century musicians, authenticity in the performing arts, and professional chamber playing. They have performed as featured artists at the Music by Women Festival, the International Tuba/Euphonium Conference, the International Women’s Brass Conference, the Darkwater Festival, and the Asociación Española de Tubas y Bombardinos Festival in Madrid, Spain. As passionate advocates of new music, the duo has expanded the repertoire through commissioning projects with composers such as Etienne Crausaz, Steven Snowden, Frida de la Sota, Margaret McAllister, and Nathan Daughtrey. At the onset of the COVID-19 lockdown, they initiated a Call for Miniatures Project aimed at fostering remote music collaborations. It resulted in 84 newly composed works from 50 different composers, representing 10 countries around the world. Both members completed their doctoral work at Arizona State University and currently serve as faculty at the University of Florida School of Music.
