Siglind Bruhn is a concert pianist, musicologist, and interdisciplinary scholar. Born in Hamburg, Germany, she holds a Master of Music degree from the Music University at Stuttgart and a Ph.D. from the University of Vienna, Austria. As a pianist, she has given solo and chamber-music recitals in 24 countries on all five continents. As a researcher, she has been affiliated with the University of Michigan’s Institute for the Humanities since 1993 while also collaborating with research units in France, Denmark, Sweden, and Finland. She is the author of more than twenty-five book-length monographs, primarily in the field of 20th-century music and its relationship to literature, art, and religion. In 2001 she was elected to the European Academy of Arts and Sciences; in 2008 she was awarded an honorary doctorate from Linnaeus University, Sweden. During the years 2014-2017 she will be serving as Guest Professor at the Music Academy in Cracow, Poland.
